trust fall

At small group this afternoon, we gathered everyone together after lunch and explained the idea of the trust fall with an invitation to all who wanted to join in and participate.

We explained that this was a chance to express ways we wanted to trust God more or to share about anything we wanted to put in God's hands.   When we gave the kids a chance to share something, Anna shared that she wanted to trust God for friendship.

Then we allowed the kids to try the trust fall into our arms. When each person went, they could look around at the people who caught them and then they were given the choice to be lifted up by the group as well. After the kids went, we told them that they could either stay and listen while the adults shared and participate in being catchers or they could go upstairs.

And then we each went around and shared...
Jason- praying for trust with this job search
Emily- ditto on Jason's request and also praying for wisdom as parents to Anna and Taylor
Dave Kwok- for their marriage, for work at Hope Central
Dave Atkins- with some new opportunities at work, feeling stretched and pulled in many directions
Tamara- for parenthood and for wisdom and trust
Heather- for their marriage and for wisdom with how to spend her time, decisions about Leah and preschool, for patience
Mike- for vocation and calling, for friendships, for work
Kelly- for God's continued work in her heart as a mom and for patience
I also read your email below to the group as a reminder of your requests shared with us all.

a beautiful picture of community

For me this time, it was not as profound falling back as it was this summer (perhaps because the tone was a bit different being inside rather than being out in Glacier National Park).
The thing that struck me this time around was the privilege of getting to be a catcher.  I loved the way this embodied prayer (literally) and how I felt like I was able to experience the lifting up of these requests in a very tangible way.

After everyone had gone, we had a time where we all held out our hands and prayed for you. It was a virtual trust fall, if you will. :)  We then prayed for the requests that you shared and lifted those up. It felt significant to me that we were saying these same prayers in the Kwok's living room where we had prayed for you all before you left.

the gifts of God
for the people of God...

"Come to the table He's prepared for you
The bread of forgiveness, the wine of release
Come to the table and sit down beside Him
The Savior wants you to join in the feast."
-Michael Card

you were right in our midst today....
XOXO
