fundraising

In light of your wonderful email that you sent with the opportunity to be a part of the work you all are doing there, I wanted to share a few quotes with you.

When my friend Susanne in Knoxville began her work called Holy Paths, she considered fundraising to be a necessary, but unpleasant, activity to support the work. Although she had raised and contributed funds for many organizations over the years, she felt awkward and a little embarrassed about asking for help when she was personally involved. However, she shared that God has patiently taught her over the years and brought her to an understanding that...

"
fundraising is a form of ministry as spiritual as giving a sermon, praying, visiting the sick, or feeding the hungry....Fundraising is proclaiming what we believe in such a way that we offer other people an opportunity to participate with us in our vision and mission."  (Henry Nouwen)

Giving can be a way “to participate in a new communion with others while becoming part of a much larger spiritual vision and fruitfulness.” (Nouwen)

So, as you seek to raise funds and get the message out about what you are seeing there, know that you are offering us a chance to participate and be a part of global health in a way we would not have been able to before.

Just as God gave me a heart for children in Kenya and in India, I have the privilege of sharing that with others and hopefully building bridges for people to develop relationships that are transforming on both sides.  In the same way, that is what you are being given to do...

Cheering for you from this side of the world!!
