first and foremost, HAPPY 7th to LIAM TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
-------------------------------
Thank you all so much for the tickets to the Children's Theater once again! It happened to be that Goodnight Moon was showing the night of Jason's birthday so we headed out to see the show on Thursday. We had to laugh when telling people when they asked what we were doing for Jason's birthday- "Uh- we are going to see Goodnight Moon." :) When I was talking to my parents about it, we had some laughs about it and talked about the fact that maybe we should go out for cocktails before.. Goodnight Moon-shine! :)
While it was a sweet show and we all certainly appreciated different parts of it, one sobering thing was watching it and simply realizing that our kids really are in a different stage and that they are past some of this... (The show is really geared towards younger kids). As I watch neighbors across the street playing outside with their big plastic toys, I just recognize that Anna is now babysitting, reading young adult fiction, and dancing, and Taylor would rather play soccer or lacrosse outside or play a soccer game called Fifa on the iPad than much else these days. I am not organizing park dates, trips to the zoo, story time at the library, art times at the museum and other things like I used to. And the thing is that I am okay with that- we had such a sweet past decade (am I really writing the word "decade"?!) and we are just taking deep breaths and diving in as we are entering new waters....
but again, please know we are grateful for the sweet gift of the Children's Theater tickets you've given us!! We got to take Gene and Bette with us since they let us swap our tickets from the fall show that we could not attend (when we were at my great aunt's funeral in DC).
sending you love from a fabulous restaurant on Eastlake where we went last night for a 2nd celebration :)
