Superbowl Sunday was a fun day starting with a run in the morning...
(at first, I laughed at the fact that I was even there--- because a bunch of runners came who had been at the Dempsey Invitational Track Meet and two of the runners who showed up Sunday morning ran a 4:41 and 4:42 mile... That does not even happen in my dreams. :)
Jason, Anna and Taylor played in a fun neighborhood flag football game before the Superbowl down at Roosevelt High School.
I love Anna showing some girl power being the only girl there.
Watching the game at our neighbor's house was such fun, but of course, it was heartbreaking in the end that they missed the touchdown at the one yard line. Really?!? I was actually videoing folks because I was sure it was going to be the moment we won the Superbowl, but then the ball was intercepted and the Patriots stole the show.
Let's just say that Taylor was crushed. He had big tears in his eyes at one point because he was angry and was trying to make sense of it. He's definitely our passionate little guy. I thought of Liam and Micah and how you've shared a few windows into the anxiety, anger and attitude you've dealt with there in Malawi with the boys.
For most fans, letting go of this disappointment is no big deal, but for some folks, this will take quite some time to get over. It's what we choose to focus on that determines everything. In typical Russell Wilson fashion, his speech last night was full of humility and grace as he focused on the great team they had. He could have gotten stuck on the one play that could have changed everything, but he displayed such good sportsmanship.
As we try to coach our boys through their strong feelings, I pray that we will be able to help guide them so they don't get stuck on the snags of life- big or little...
Anxiety, anger and attitude, oh my.
Praying for mercy and grace to lead us on as we try to coach and parent well in the storms that come...
